It's going to be quite the summer! If you want to see some sweet places and get some tips on super cheap travel stay tune.
Now for stop one:
Zion National Park:
This place is spectacular. We had no idea what we had been missing. While Utah is full of great national parks, Zion has some of the most dramatic cliffs and terrain we have ever seen. Take a look at our two days there.
Day one we did the Kayenta Trail.
Along that same trail we found the Emerald pools.
Later that night I (Johnny) burned my 10 year old North Face backpack. It was given to me by my sister a long time ago and I've used it to travel all over the place. It finally broke and I decided to burn it as a tribute to its long life.
The next day we went to Angel's Landing. It was beyond brilliant, the hike takes you on a series of switch backs up the mountain, a few which you have to hold to a chain in order to climb up.
As we descended we had to wait 45 min for trail maintenance. This was a perfect opportunity to get some sun thousands of feet in the air...on the edge of a cliff. Not so safe, but oh so wonderful.
Below gives you an idea of what kind of terrain we were hiking (more like climbing) up.
Next up, Vegas.

ReplyDeleteLove your pictures. When you go to Vegas, go see Red Rock Canyon. It is northwest of Vegas and is truely beautiful. Also, when you go to Wales, check out Portmerion near Gwynedd in North Wales. It is too cool and you will love it. Have a ball,

ReplyDeleteIsn't Zion amazing? It's one of our fave places to go. I'm glad you did Angel's Landing! Scary but so cool! If I'd know you were going there I would have told you to eat at the Bit N Spur- yummy organic mexican food. Have fun you two!!

Muff: I wish we had! we were only there for a day so we did not have very much time. We will definitely check out the place in wales though!
Carissa: We definitely had to save up, but we are doing also the CHEAPEST form of travel possible, backpacking through & couchsurfing around (have you heard of couchsurfing.org?)
